Strip <?xml?> Tag

I also forgot to mention that there is an update for Strip <?xml?> Tag now, version 1.5.0. This version is to fix it so that the xml declaration is removed from PHP files, which it was not set up to do in version 1.0.0.

Oops! I forgot to mention here that JavaScript Assistant is now available for FREE from the DWfaq Store. CSS Assistant is well underway now, and I hope to have that done soon.

Christmas party

Last night was my parent's first ever Christmas party. It was a lot preparation since their house has been under construction and is now finished. Everyone had a great time and Dad was able to show off a few of his Christmas presents he got early: The lamp that hangs over the pool table that my brother and his wife got him and the Precision Pours and Liq-Trol that my husband and I got him. I just knew if I gave them to him on Christmas he'd tell me "I could have really used this at the party.", so he got them a little early. I sent some to Dan & Kristen (his wife)and he loved them enough to mention them in his blog :-). We can't recommend them highly enough! They make a great stocking stuffer too. Sorry I didn't mention it earlier folks, but I didn't want Dan to read about them here and order some for himself and spoil the surprise ;-).

Motivated

I'm feeling pretty motivated now that the stress of the holidays are almost over and the book is at the printer. (It is on schedule and should be out in mid to late January.) Provided that I get everything all done for Christmas tonight, tomorrow morning I'll finish up some backend work on the DWfaq.com Store and give out 2 new extensions free in time for Christmas. Cross your fingers for me folks :-).

Lost emails again!

I lost all my emails again! Last time I lost them was on the 10th. I'm hoping this doesn't happen every ten days or something :-\. This really bites. In case you're wondering, my email is on Win2k. I recently moved from my 98PC to that one so that I wouldn't have email problems... go figure!

JavaScript Assistant done

Well folks, I finally got it finished. JavaScript Assistant will go into beta some time today and be released in a few days. Here's just some of what it does:

The JavaScript Assistant is a toolbar that can be used in any kind of document that you'd use JavaScript.JavaScript Assistant is designed to analyze your selection and place the cursor in the next logical position based on that selection. For example, if you select a single word, then click the function button, the cursor is placed inside the () since you may need to add arguments to the function. If your selection contains multiple words or multiple lines of code, the cursor is put before the () so that you can give the function a name. The same principle applies to the Insert If Statement, Insert Else Statement, and Insert For Loop buttons.

There are 11 buttons in the JavaScript Assistant. This extension will be free, and available from the DWfaq Store.

Gaetano and me

Yesterday was filled with fun for Gaetano and me. We went to a Christmas party for the community we live in and Gaetano sat in Santa's lap as if he'd known the guy forever. He sat there for a good 5 minutes leaning on him and if I didn't pick him up he'd probably fall asleep in Santa's arms! He looked so cozy :-)

Kicking and screaming I tore him away from the party. (Santa left already; I'm not a meanie.) We went to the mall and Gaetano started fussing being in his stroller so I took a chance and decided I'd see if he'd behave walking with me. He did really good! So we're in Godiva and Gaetano is organizing their boxes of chocolates as I'm picking things out. We leave and do about an hour's more of shopping. When we come upon an empty bench Gaetano decided it was time to go sit. I was tired too so I sat down with him. Just then I notice a strange box shoved between the diaper bag and the seat of the stroller. Gaetano put a $36 box of chocolates in the stroller! Of course I took it back and explained to him that he can't help mommy shop and should ask before putting things in the stroller. I just hope he understood and this is not a foreshadowing of any kind!

Just like my mom

Like Mother like daughter... I definitely take after mine. As it turns out, when I was Gaetano's age my mom was leaving the gas station and my brother and I were in the back seat fighting. She turned around to discipline us and she crashed into a pole! (See yesterday's entry if you don't understand the humor in this story.) So I am guessing that when my grandchild is Gaetano's age, Gaetano will probably crash his car into a pole too. When that happens, I'll be able to think back to yesterday and laugh, just like my mom did today when I told her what I did and she told me the story of what she did. :-)

Lost email

I'm going to cry... I just lost all my email for the past 2 weeks and have not a clue why. There are people I am supposed to respond to who I can't remember and several emails that have file attachments that I have now lost. This royally sucks...

BOOM

I can't believe I did this... I'd bought a baloon for Gaetano while we were out shopping. On the way home he was complaining "I'm stuck", as he always does when he wants out of his car seat or if he can't reach something. So I drove along thinking he's fine but I couldn't see him cuz the baloon blocked his face. He was quiet, I was singing Christmas songs, all seemed fine until I turned the corner to my street. I noticed the baloon was still blocking his face and I got startled by it because he wasn't responding to me. I pulled into my driveway and turned back to reach over and move the baloon so I could see him (for a moment I thought maybe he choked himself on the string to the baloon). As I reached back I was braking, but I turned the wheel to the right without realizing it. BOOM right into one of the carport's poles. Gaetano was totally fine just passed out from exhaustion and I was worried for nothing. What a day :-(...

Valid XHTML 1.1

I don't know if it has always been available, but I didn't see it when I first looked... I just discovered there is a W3C Valid XHTML 1.1 image available. Though my doctype has always used 1.1 here at DWmommy it had a 1.0 image. Kind of funny when I think about it like that...

CFWACK Sample PDF

I was doing my usual look through of the MM DesDev feed at DWfaq and found a link to an article by Ben Forta which contains links to PDFs of chapters 2,5, and 6 of The Macromedia ColdFusion MX Web Application Construction Kit (a.k.a. CFWACK). Sorry folks, you'll have to buy the book to read the chapter I wrote (chapter 7). For those of you who find holding this 5 1/2 pound book tiresome (who wouldn't!?), I thought you might like to grab these PDFs. For those of you who haven't bought the book yet and were thinking about it, these chapters should convince you. :-)

M-W.com toolbar

I was just thinking that Meriam-Webster's site needed a browser toolbar like Google's to let me look up words when I noticed their very subtle text ad for it. I've installed the m-w.com toolbar, and it appears to be very handy.

Long days ahead

I'm in for some long days... My mom won't be babysitting Gaetano as much now because he's become too much for her to handle. Generally he's a really good kid, but he's at that age where kids get stubborn and refuse to let you dress them (especially pajamas) or change their diaper. I can't blame mom, because I know it drives me crazy when he acts like that too.

I'm going to try to take advantage of the time he'll be home with me to break him of these bad fits and get him potty trained. I think that will help quite a bit. Unfortunately this means I won't be getting as much work done :-(. Good thing I am done with the book :-) I sure hope this phase doesn't last too long!

What now?

Whatever will I do...? I just sent in the final chapter of author review on Dreamweaver MX Killer Tips. Even though I'm done, it doesn't feel like it yet. I'm excited, yet strangely bored and unsure what to do next! :-)
