Diagnosis: Pre-Diabetic

Every year or so my doctor orders a set of blood tests. Because I lack a gall bladder and try to maintain a low-fat diet, he's cautioned me that at some point I may become diabetic if I'm not careful. Some of the blood tests he has run are to check for diabetes. A few days ago, I got the results in the mail with his annotations. There was nothing really definitive in what he said, no certain...

One-Size-Fits-All Solutions

"This is where most people fail in my opinion...they believe that by purchasing a boxed solution they will not have to learn how to do basic programming! That is they believe this until they actually have the boxed solution installed than find out that everything from their own ISP's configurations to cross browser problems has an effect on their 100% plug and pray solution."~Redmanz

Turning 30 on the 30th

In less than 2 weeks, May 30th to be exact, I'll be turning 30 years old. I don't know that I really see it as the milestone that most people do and I'm not up in arms about it either. Perhaps in 10 years when I turn 40 it will feel that way. Turning 30 just hasn't been a big deal for me. In fact, I can't even figure out how I'd like to celebrate it (if at all)... So why am I even blogging about...

Long over due Birthday Blogging...

On April 20th my son turned 5 years old and my mom turned a year older than she was last year. (I know how old, but she'd probably prefer I don't announce it.) The theme for Gaetano's birthday was The Incredibles. All of us wore paper Incredibles masks to dinner at Bucca D'Beppo. One of the waiters was a big fan of the film and looked like he could be Frozone. As he walked by our table he...

Amazing Generosity

In a desperate search for a cereal without any potassium (due to my allergy of it), I have recently discovered All Newman's Own Wild Blueberry Pecan cereal. (I would provide a direct link to the exact product but unfortunately it doesn't seem to be on their website and neither does Costo's site which is where I purchased the cereal.) Since it is all natural that means Gaetano can have it too...

Speculations and Team Macromedia

Ben Forta has said it well, "Since the announcement hit the wire this morning, the various ColdFusion related lists have been buzzing with rumors, speculation, and predictions. Of course, that is all they are, rumors, speculation, and predictions. I don't think anyone really knows what this means for any product yet, and it'll be a while until all that gets figured out." (Read Ben's...

Macromedia Dreamweaver MX 2004

Shortly after Macromedia Dreamweaver MX 2004 was released, I made this recording of Gaetano . I could have sworn that I blogged it at the time, but I can't find a post referencing it. It must have been one of those times I started blogging and got distracted or something... Gaetano now recognizes both the Macromedia logo and the Dreamweaver logo too, as well as the words Macromedia and...

Adobe to Acquire Macromedia, No April Fools Joke Folks...

If it were April 1st, I'd think it was a hoax. April Fools lasts all month to some but this would be one elaborate prank. With that out of the way, you can see proof that Macromedia is being acquired by Adobe at both of their websites. Adobe's site is running super slow right now, probably due to the load of traffic. Be patient; the URLs provided above link to the press release on their...

Don't Ask Again

Gaetano is at that age where he'll ask a question, I'll give him an answer and then a moment later he asks the same thing again. It is as though he thinks he'll get a different answer the second time. I've learned to answer him once and when he asks again I have him tell me what I answered. If he asks again, I'll tell him, "Don't ask again or [insert consequence here]". Sometimes he...

Fun with XBox

Leave it to me to try something silly like this... If you've joined the Dance Dance Revolution craze, then you can have a little extra fun with those dance mats that it uses. Try playing games that don't require the joystick or triggers, like Tetris for example, using your feet. Playing Tetris takes quite a bit of energy and concentration, especially at the higher levels. You should also try...
